About CE

Built by engineers.Run by engineers.

Controls Engineering was founded on a simple premise: automation projects succeed when the people doing the work understand the process, own the outcome, and stay accountable through commissioning.

Our Story

Two decades of controls work.

Controls Engineering started as a small team of PLC programmers who were tired of watching automation projects fail — not because the technology was wrong, but because the delivery model was broken. Contractors who handed off undocumented code. Integrators who disappeared after startup. Systems that worked in the demo and failed in production.

We built CE around a different model: deep technical ownership from design through commissioning, documentation that your team can actually use, and a commitment to staying engaged until the system performs as specified.

Over twenty years, that approach has grown into a full-service controls and automation firm serving manufacturing, process industries, and building systems clients across the region. The team has expanded, the platforms have changed, and the project complexity has grown — but the operating principle hasn't.

What We Stand For

Four principles. No exceptions.

Technical Ownership

We write code we can defend, design panels we can explain, and commission systems we can prove. If we built it, we own it.

Documentation First

Every project ships with complete, accurate documentation. Not an afterthought — a deliverable. Your team should be able to maintain what we built without calling us.

Commissioning to Acceptance

We don't consider a project complete when the system powers on. We stay through functional testing, operator training, and owner acceptance.

Manufacturer-Neutral

We recommend the platform that fits your application, your existing infrastructure, and your team's capability — not the one with the best margin for us.

CE Academy

Training the next generation of controls professionals.

CE Academy is the training and workforce development division of Controls Engineering — a manufacturer-neutral nonprofit that helps public owners plan, procure, and sustain building controls systems. The AC25 curriculum covers the full Division 25 project lifecycle, from fundamentals through mission-critical specialization.

AC25 Curriculum

Nine course series. 60+ courses. From Division 25 foundations through mission-critical specialization.

Work With Us

Work with a team that stays.

We're not the right fit for every project. But if you need a controls partner who will be there through commissioning and beyond, let's talk.
